More people choosing to skip lawyers

This November 27, 2006 article discussses a survey recently completed by the Utah Judicial Council on self-representation in Utah. The survey states that in 2005, 47% of those filing for divorce opted not to pay for attorneys to help them. For protective orders: 54%, stalking: 76%, evictions: 19%, small claims: 98%, debt collections: 1%, and guardianship: 58% proceed without attorneys.
